LIVING LIKE ANIMALS!!!!!!!!

I have no Idea what I wanna write here now, but I'll try my best not to interfere emotions in this article as my goal is to prove something..
just a few days ago I was chatting with an American guy living in London, and he said something that just,emmm,well made me think to do something..It's not an easy thing ofcourse and i definetely need help...I wanna make a blind eye see again!!!!

we were just talking and chatting about different issues that he started to get in to personal files,that well I didn't like actually...there are some great great differences between cultures,and everyone knows that,but when it comes to action they act like: No way!! you must be kidding me..you mean you don't do this,and that...so I'm gonna put what we talked here,so you can all judge by yourselves...and help me to reveal the truth,and even if that's not important for him,It is for me!!!

this was our conversation..I'm still sorry for all the bad things I told him,I wasn't really supposed to do so,but it just happened suddenly and because I thought he was a friend,well that just walked on my nerves more..

I wanna show him and prove him that he's wrong..and I'm thinking about ways..and I think that I will start with persian Literature..that shows our culture,and history better than anything else,and actually I can talk more about it..but still I need suggestions..
I know what to tell him,but just wanna be sure about the way..It's really important to me and all the other persians..
we will be glad to have your comments here..
I don't wanna reflect just the bad points about sth,but now I think It's needed to remember what has happened in the world..and what has been recorded as tragedies in the world,and by WHOM!!!!

Dear Mehrnaaz,
It does constantly distress me to see such things which actually happen too often -even to myself.

It is true that we should not judge a book by its cover and seeing just a few instances should not lead us to a general presumption but anyway here are a few things which came to my mind through reading this conversation:

1-"Betralyal"
Don’t freak out I know what I am talking about! And yes betrayal. As I think about our fellow citizens that do not live in Iran and by leaving their country it seems that they also leave their Pride, Dignity, Sense, Morality, and Loyalty behind, makes me weep! The fact that an Iranian could be cruel enough to give up on all these wonderful achievements (if they had any of the above mentioned factors in first place!) for me is just not palatable. And I feel that this guy must have experienced such a person which has led him to such a firm belief.

2-Approach
As an Iranian I too was hurt after reading the conversation but the fact is about how we react. I know that due to the atmosphere we are in our approaches would definitely be different and we might spontaneously react and due to our "Erghe Melli" (love for our country) we would want to take definite action when we hear such a remark, but what caught my eye was the way you had confronted this dude: pretty rough for the first time! I felt a kind of aggressive vibe in your tone if I am not mistaken and I think instead of taking a hostile side when experiencing these sorts of people the best thing is to just let them unburden themselves freely and then screw them up through questioning them. I didn’t see you asking any questions of why is it that he thinks Iran is a jungle? Or of what he has seen, or what people he has talked to before and what the source of his ideas are… keep these in mind for the next time and I am sure you can enlighten and maybe even free a restricted mind :D ;)

Convincing others of our own ideas is really hard, not to say impossible. The only instrument we have is teaching/learning by example. Everyody has his own reason and background which is relevant for us. You, me, your american friend, his iranian friend, everybody.

Judging on either side sharpens the differences. Looking for the truth, absolute truth, your thruth, his thruth, will not solve anything.

If one claims the truth above others (s)he is ready to fight, to gain dominance over the other. Although this is daily life, we don't have to do this. We seem to forget that we have a choice.

If you invite sombody at your table and (s)he is not interested for any kind of reason, keep it open by saying: you are always welcome and enjoy the meal with your friends.

Hello Persian Girls,
I will admit to being very ignorant about the world in general and Iran in particular. I am Canadian, and of course, get the filtered news through the media. However, I am also open-minded enough to realize that not everything we see on TV is accurate. I have found a great resource in your professor, Susan Marandi, who is so willing to answer any of my questions and speak honestly and tactfully about daily life in Iran.

I can see that you have the same sort of national pride that I have in my country. It is my hope that with globalization via the Internet and increased travel opportunities, people can meet and see that we are the same in many ways. And that the differences do not make one "better" than another.

I hope your friend will have an open attitude to all that you will share with him about Iran.
